Data Delete In the U.S. as many as 9 million people have their identities stolen each year. With Computrace LoJack for Laptops Premium, you can protect your identity against theft with Data Delete. How Does Data Delete Work? When you report your computer as stolen, you can activate our Data Delete service. The next time the computer calls in to our monitoring center Data Delete will erase and overwrite your files - exceeding some of the highest deletion standards in the world. What Does Data Delete Protect? The Data Delete service helps keep your personal and sensitive files safe by erasing and overwriting your entire hard drive. This will make sure that files and applications that can contain personal photos, Internet bookmarks, even browser cookies and stored passwords – everything someone would need to steal your identity – cannot be accessed. $1000 Service Guarantee Absolute Software, the makers of Computrace LoJack for Laptops, offers a Service Guarantee to help give you peace of mind in the event your computer is lost or stolen. If a computer protected with our Premium edition is stolen, Absolute will recover it or you may be eligible to receive up to $1000. |

Absolute can only guarantee payment for computers that are stolen in territories where there is a Theft Recovery Team. The Service Guarantee currently applies for computers stolen in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Australia. 4. Is Data Delete Activated? Absolute offers a Data Delete capability that can remotely erase the entire hard drive of the stolen computer – allowing you to keep confidential data out of the hands of strangers. If this feature is activated, the Service Guarantee is null and void. | | How It Works The technology behind Computrace LoJack for Laptops by Absolute Software is the Computrace Agent, a small software client that is embedded into the BIOS firmware of most computers at the factory. Or you can easily install yourself. The Agent in your computer maintains daily contact with the Absolute Monitoring Center. If you report your computer stolen, Agent contact will increase to every 15 minutes. Increased contact allows us to obtain specific details like the physical location of your computer, any activity that has occurred post-theft, and other important data that will aid us in working with local law enforcement to catch the thief and return your property to you. Regardless of recovery status, you can remotely delete data to remove some or all of the information stored on your computer so that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. This could include files and applications containing personal photos, internet bookmarks, browser cookies, financial information, and stored passwords. Everything an identity thief would need to steal your identity. | |
